All of Our Puppies Grow Up in a Home with a Family
You get my BEST pup for a fraction of the cost, the Guardian puppy gets a loving home, and I get to see characteristics for which I breed in future litters.

Some of our little pups will be placed in Guardian Homes (at a reduced price) where they will both have their own loving families and have pups in the future for XANADU.
If you become a Guardian for a XANADU pup/dog, I--the breeder--will breed the Guardian Home dog to continue the best of his/her litter’s characteristics in future generations. The Guardian’s breeding obligation is complete when the female has produced her contracted litters and these pups have been transferred to the to me or when the stud dog has fulfilled his number of breedings (usually 3-6). Three puppies constitute a litter unless the female is very small or very large (see your breeding contract). Guardians of females are paid for each litter of three or more (see contract) puppies. There is extra work to do between the time pups are 3-7 weeks old.
Owners of Guardian Home males will be paid each time the dog produces a litter of puppies when the Guardian has to transport the male to a veterinarian for vet-assisted breedings (inseminations). As the Breeder, I (XANADU) will pay for Guardian Home breeding expenses and puppy vet bills, for advertising, new owner communication--the business end of puppy adoption.
There is a separate contract for ALL Guardian Home Signatories (see below). I like to/hope to visit each prospective Guardian Home before our agreement is finalized. If you are interested in becoming a Guardian Home Owner, please contact me directly. There are very few Guardian Home dogs/puppies available. Guardian Home deposits are refundable if there are not enough Guardian Home puppies that need Guardian Homes or if a prospective Guardian Home Owner does not qualify for guardianship. OR your Guardian Home deposit may be applied to the purchase of a pet-home puppy or toward a Guardian Home puppy from a future litter.

All XANADU breeding dogs are still enjoying their forever homes with their owners, who were XANADU Guardians in the past. Our oldest retired Guardian is 11 years old, healthy, happy, and my best friend. She had one litter of nine pups for XANADU, four of whom are/were Guardians.
How does the Guardian Home program work?

Guardian Home dogs are Breeding Dogs, and in Good Guardian Home Programs, they are the BEST examples of breeds that can be found. These puppies/dogs are from sound litters whose parents are known for good confirmation and who have had genetic testing to prevent inherited problems that can affect quality and length of life of their puppies. XANADU puppies are known for sound health and great temperaments. AKC puppies/parent dogs have characteristics necessary to produce great show dogs, champions, and Doodle breeds. Many parent dog lines have championship ancestry. Puppies selected for their potential to be good breeding dogs are carefully examined for health and confirmation, are friendly with their owners and their families, are exceptionally smart, trainable, and willing to please, and they are beautiful.
XANADU breeding dogs are selected for the above characteristics and other XANADU luxury features (e.g., eye color, non-barkiness, reduced shedding, no doggie-odor, etc.). Some lines even have an unusual homing ability. Some are so sensitive to their humans, they seem to be able to read minds. We do not breed guard dogs; our pups are not natively shy nor suspicious.
Breeders often charge two to four times as much for in-tact puppies of breeding quality, and usually there are many breeding restrictions regarding numbers of litters produced, possible joint breeding rights with original breeders, spay & neuter clauses for retired breeding dogs, cost of puppies and percentage of puppy price returned to the breeder of the parent dog, etc. Many of these clauses are designed to protect lineages that breeders have spent a lifetime(s) to produce. A breeding puppy that is introduced to a kennel usually costs the new kennel owner a minimum of $3,500 plus valuable breeding concessions. As the dog matures and passes genetic tests, that price easily doubles. And if s/he proves to be a great breeder and companion to you, that Guardian dog is invaluable.
XANADU Kennel tries to keep Contracts SIMPLE without encumbering clauses. Each Contract is tailored to the Guardian pup, to XANADU'S needs, and to the Guardian Home. Below you will find a sample portion of a usual Guardian Home Contract. If you are considering Guardianship for a particular pup, please request a copy of the proposed Guardian Contract for that particular puppy.
If you feel as though you are a good candidate for a XANADU Guardian dog, please contact Dr. Sheron Mariah Steele. There is a Guardian Home pup available from most litters produced by XANADU—and these go quickly!
